Betting.

Many people fancy a bet these days, on all manner of events. Bookmakers are no longer the dingy smoke filled backstreet establishments of yesteryear. They are pleasant, smoke-free, High Street environments serving refreshments and having properly trained staff focussed on customer-care. Of all the main bookmakers, we particularly recommend William Hill, whose customer-service and in-shop ambience are exceptional. The logo links to the company's main website, which can be used to check odds and results, or even to place bets. The local branch is situated in Camp Road, North Camp.

Snooker & hospitality facilities.

What a great discovery Sovereign Snooker in Camp Road, North Camp, proved to be, and it's difficult to know where to begin describing this multi-faceted business, established in 1985.

Certainly it's the ideal place to go and relax over a few frames of snooker or billiards. Sovereign boasts eleven full-size tables with two in a private salon. There are also six English pool and two American pool tables. With an excellent cue shop and a cue-doctor on hand there is everything here for devotees of the green baize.

There is so much more! Whatever your gaming requirements - within reason and legality - Sovereign will accommodate you. There are slot-machines here with jackpots of up to £250. Feel free to play darts or have a quiet game of cards. There are often in-house poker tournaments too, played out in quiet and professional surroundings. Eat your heart out, Las Vegas!

This can also rightly claim to be a "Sports bar",  in that all the major sporting events are shown via satellite on a variety of large tv screens.

Do not expect some back street snooker hall here! There is the stamp of luxury and privacy about Sovereign, making it an ideal venue for entertaining or socialising. The bar is well appointed and the kitchen is open from 11.00am until 10.00pm for light refreshments, snacks or meals from a varied menu.

The owner, Mick, and manager, Steve, run Sovereign in a highly professional manner to remarkably high standards. The emphasis is very much on friendliness and there is a superb ambience to the whole establishment.

Apart from your own enjoyment, it is worth remembering that this is a venue highly suited to the staging of events, private parties for up to 150 people, and corporate entertainment.

A full membership of only £10 per year represents incredible value for the facilities on offer. Visit the website by clicking on the logo, and co
ntact the club to discuss any individual requirements.

By way of "stop press", we have just learned that at the time of writing, Sovereign has a planning application in progress for the establishment of a fenced-in rooftop terrace to enable smoking on the premises, yet another valuable addition to the facilities.
